Results of the Family Website Survey
Thank you to all of our families who participated in our family website survey! We are working on turning your comments into plans for the website going into the new school year. Here are some of the results:
Families agreed that they would like to see Upcoming Events on the website (purple bar.). Families also want to see SPT meeting notes and agendas and curriculum information (the blue and green bars on the right.)

Lots of valuable information was collected through the survey and we hope to continue collecting your feedback throughout the revision process and the launch of new features. Feel free to email Keely at kflaherty@elhaynes.org with additional suggestions and comments about the website.
Summer Intersession class descriptions/ descripciónes de las classes de Intercesión De
Verano
2010-2011 Calendar. After much deliberation, the Board of Trustees and the leadership team has decided to start our 2010-2011 school year two weeks later than usual. Our first day of school will be on Monday, August 16 rather than Monday, August 2. We decided on this change to give us enough time to move our PK3-2nd grade classes into our new building. We have hit all our construction deadlines to date, but given the tight timeline, we think this is the prudent thing to do. We anticipate moving our PK3-2nd grade classes into the Kansas Avenue site on August 1.
- Please come talk to us if you are looking for alternative options for childcare for those two weeks in August.
- By starting two weeks late, we will only have one week of Intersession in October and one week in April. That means we will have 6 weeks of intersession, rather than 8, in 2010-2011. See revised calendar.
- This adjustment is just for next year; we will return to starting the first week in August for school in 2011-2012 and have 8 weeks of intersession again.
- Our spring vacation is the same as DCPS’s next year and turns out to be 10 days long; the DCCAS will take place before spring break next year.
- All other aspects of the calendar look like this year – our PD days, our parent/teacher conference days, and our end of school schedule.
- Beth et. al. are thinking about how we can assist families in identifying childcare for those two weeks in August.
