E.L. HAYNES CURRICULUM
The high school curriculum is built around the premise of college now with high school support. Our “AP for All” curriculum starts with AP World History in grade 9. All students are expected to take the exam in the spring. We explicitly teach writing and grammar in grades 9 and 10 so that students will be adequately prepared for AP Language and Literature coursework in grades 11 and 12. To prepare our students for the demands of the 21st century, our science and math program anchors students in the fundamental principles of geometry and physics. Students apply these skills in AP Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, and Computer Science in grades 10-12.
Students also supplement their academic toolkit with world language studies. Students can take Spanish and Arabic. As a blended learning program, students are issued laptops that are used to enhance instruction. There are also opportunities for students to enroll in a virtual high school to earn credit.
