SY 2023-24 COVID-19 Policies and Procedures

Our policies and procedures were last updated August 15, 2023. For the full list of SY22-23 Policies, click here.

E.L. Haynes follows the most current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as well as from the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). We are committed to revisiting our community guidelines with any change in the District’s Key Metrics for Coronavirus.

Guidance

Mask-Wearing: People may choose to mask at any time. We strongly recommend people with symptoms, a positive test (aligned to the guidance below), or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a high-quality mask when indoors.

Vaccinations: Vaccination requirements (and corresponding policy) remain the same for staff and students. Boosters are highly recommended but not required.

Leave: We no longer offer COVID Flex Leave (last year offered was SY2022-23). Staff must use available leave when they are out due to COVID. In extenuating circumstances, the CTO may use discretion on a case-by-case basis if leave is exhausted due to COVID.

Contact-Tracing: As of May 1, 2023, E.L. Haynes no longer conducts contact tracing.

Isolation / Exposure: E.L. Haynes follows current CDC isolation and exposure guidelines.
If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home for at least 5 days.

  • If you have no symptoms you may end isolation after day 5.
  • If you have symptoms and your symptoms are improving, you may end isolation after day 5, so long as you have been fever-free for 24 hours.
  • If you have symptoms and your symptoms are not improving, continue to isolate until you are fever-free for 24 hours and your symptoms are improving.

Reporting: For SY2023-24 there is no reporting requirement for staff or students. We strongly encourage individuals to inform close contacts directly in order to help staff members monitor their symptoms.

Testing: We will continue to offer antigen tests until current supplies run out. If none are available at school, you can purchase them at your local pharmacy.
